To Muffins

To Muffins

A Poem by Jessica
"

A birthday poem for a close friend of mine. :)

"

Online friendships can sometimes be deceitful.

I could see how that might be so-

Online isn’t like real life.

People have the opportunity to lie

About every aspect of their lives

From extracurricular actives they enjoy

To their age.

But I knew from Day 1

That this friendship was real

Despite the fact it existed through a computer screen.

I cannot recall when exactly

Our friendship started.

It was either on fanfiction.net or Twitter.

I can’t remember the specifics

But I have a feeling it started because

Of the story I started.

We got the links to each other’s Twitter profiles

And that’s where the friendship started.

It started with little comments-

“I like your background!”

But it became something more

With a review to my story.

I replied to it

And she felt compelled to reply to my reply.

Her parting line?-

Hmmm.... I'm gonna ask you random questions. You can ask me some too.”

The next month was spent sending each other inbox messages.

We talked about everything-

The Twilight books, other books we’ve read,

School, family friends.

The sky was the limit.

Real life became too much

For us to keep up with writing those

Really long messages.

So we moved our correspondence over to Twitter.

What could I say about her?

In a world where your family was in turmoil over a divorce

The majority of your friends abandoned you

And school put too much pressure on you

She became a good friend to me.

Always supportive of everything I did

(Although she probably wants to kick my butt

For taking so long to update my fanfic.)

Always giving me good advice

And even making me laugh with her stories.

Happy birthday, Melody.

:)

Very sweet :)

I enjoyed it, it was kind and thoughtful.
I have also had online friendships that always started small, but eventually they grew.
All I can say is watch out even though you feel this friendship is "real." Everyone can lie and unfortunately, everyone DOES lie at some point in their life.

I took off points because:
1. I could not feel the flow~ of the writing. Maybe if you used a FEW transition words, you could really have made into the grade of the 90s.
2. You could've explained WHY you care for her. You've explained what you guys talk about, but not much about WHY you like talking about it.
Ask:
Why do you care? - You met her online.
How much do you care?

-------------------------------------------------

Anyway, great job.
