Ghost TownA Poem by JessicaThe feeling you get when visiting the house you just moved out of.
Vacant
Completely empty of everything
Except for the occasional item.
They were left behind, forgotten
Just like the house.
Looking around, she couldn’t help but think-
Everything was so familiar
Yet so distant.
With every room she entered
She felt like she lost a little piece of herself.
A piece of herself she felt would take a while
To reattach itself to her heart.
Taking in the familiar sights
She felt her heart racing the way it would
When she would run.
Her eyes closed
And she watched memories
Dance across her lids.
Reality sunk in at that moment
There would be no more memories made here.
Everything belonged to the past
Never to be brought to the future.
