![]() Lost and InsecureA Poem by Jessica![]() A poem about an insecure teenage girl. Sort of dark.![]()
Sitting alone in the dark
Nothing unusual here-
She was used to being ignored.
Nobody paid her any attention
Unless, well, there was something wrong.
She longed for the days she was sick
For the day her report card came out
And it wasn’t as good as it could be.
It may sound wrong and twisted
But she just wanted to be noticed.
Nothing she did was ever good enough-
She brought home a straight-B report card
But it wouldn’t matter
Because it wasn’t straight-A’s.
She could write an amazing story
But it would be passed aside
Because her younger sister played an average soccer game.
She drifted through life unspoiled-
The exact opposite of her siblings.
She would kindly ask for something every once in a while
But all she would receive was disappointment.
She was tired-
Tired of being the invisible girl
Lurking in the shadows of the night.
Tired of going through life unnoticed
Like all she amounted to was a piece of furniture.
So she gave up.
After all-
Nobody would notice.
Nobody would care.
