For once

Can’t I ever catch a break?

Or does everything in life have to be fake?

For once I want someone to keep their word they give

Isn’t honesty and empathy how we are taught to live?

When you are young you read fairy tales telling you things about this fairy tale guy

Yet as you get older you will figure out that’s a lie

Maybe there is one fairy tale guy who can sweep us off our feet

Expect how much pain and suffering until we meet?

Just want one person who will say what’s on their mind

Although they will still be very kind

Just for someone to always be truthful without being asked

One who doesn’t feel the need to hide behind a mask

I guess I’m too young for this kind of love

Though I get some of it from the Lord above

Where’s my fairy tale guy in this place?

Just for once I wish I could be treated with grace .

This is very sad, and yet somehow, I think we all hide behind a mask we all sew onto our faces and never take off. When we want to change, we cover one mask up with another. Wonderful job.

As sad as it is, it's true. Maybe one day we will feel comfortable enough to take them off.
