A Memory

A Memory

A Poem by Angel

It began with a single tear

Seemed like a life time yet it was only a year

Head down shuffling through the door frame

Acknowledge the fact that this wasn’t a game

Fun and excited the first couple of months in that place

Though it wasn’t knocking down the disguise I had on my face

That’s when all of the laughs and smiles started coming to an end

Vanished the moment I lost my best friend

Longing for her to come back and help me through this as we always did

Hard to believe we’re just kids

One day I woke up and something had changed from my eyes

Maybe it was because I could stop the cries

Frozen that’s the emotions running around inside me

Lost an unknown key

Distant that’s the thinking spinning in my head

Far from hearing the words everyones’ said

Wishing it was a life time yet it was only a year

It ended with a single tear.

I've been through a lot in life but I don't let that hold me back nor do I dwell on it. Poetry gave me a way to express things that I couldn't do with my voice and I am forever grateful for that. more..
