Playing Defense

Playing Defense

A Poem by Corinna Bridgebury
"

Playing soccer in Gym.

"

Midafternoon sun

Sweat on my lips

Parched tongue

Gasping breath

And the scent

Cool and sweet

Of crushed grass

The ball cracks my shins

I run

I defend.
