Caged Valentine

Caged Valentine

A Poem by Corinna Bridgebury
"

...

"

She left her heart on the pavement

And no one touched it, no one looked.

She left it hanging in the park;

It swayed in the wind and stayed unwanted.

She held it loosely in her hand--

Someone took it, someone broke it, and

Now that she's locked it safely away

She wonders why no one will help her

Put it back together again.

I could have sworn I'd already reviewed this poem. Maybe I got distracted.

I especially like the first four lines:

She left her heart on the pavement
And no one touched it, no one looked.
She left it hanging in the park;
It swayed in the wind and stayed unwanted.

I really love this imagery. Well done.

p.s. I think there is a couple of typos in the last two lines 'who' and 'is'
