The Banshee

A banshee is an Irish myth of a female spirit whose wailing warns of a death

She screams for our signal 

she cries because she knows it's over

she's stronger than a keener 

she's hearing sounds we can't.

She gets there to the bodies.

she sometimes comes before 

she warns us every moment

she knows that we'll be next.

She has power in her voice 

she has force we can't exert 

she still stays very quiet though 

she's only ever keening.

Very interesting! In my USA childhood, this word was used in a very different way & I never knew the true meaning until just now! I can definitely see & hear how this might happen, from the way your somewhat repetitive lines belt out your keening scene (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
