Masks

Masks

A Poem by Dawn Jones

I find false words hidden beneath the surface of you

Looking for disguises when I know there must be one

But sworn to secrecy by my untrusting heart

"Bare not too much of yourself"

It says

"Tell not who you are"

"Be untrue to those who would be false to you"

But is it you who wears the mask

Or is it I?

(love the picture of the masquerade masks, I've always thought they are wicked cool)

"Be untrue to those who would be false to you." wise advice indeed, I love how it ends on the questioning of who is wearing the mask, no certainty it is the 'you' or the I.
