Ode to Xander

Ode to Xander

A Poem by Dawn Jones
"

An attempt at being lighter hearted

"

An energetic ball of fluff

Black as night

With glowing golden eyes

Too much energy

Too much whine

I hear the jangle as he sneaks up on me

The bright jingle ball in his mouth

I close my eyes tight

Fein sleep

Maybe he will give up

But he drops the ball

Mews sadly

And bats it towards my face

And waits

Staring with his glowing golden eyes

How can I resist that face

His loud sad mew

He only wants to play

So I take up the jingle ball

And give it a heave down the hall

And watch him chase it off

I close my eyes

I hear the jangle as he sneaks up on me

The bright jingle ball in his mouth

Too much energy

For the middle of the night

Silly cat

Author's Note

Dawn Jones
He is my x's cat... left with me for unknown reasons, but stolen my heart and I don't know if I could survive her loss without him. He picked up playing fetch all on his own and he couldn't be cuter... unfortunately he wants to play when it is time to sleep lol
