The Great Escape

The Great Escape

A Poem by hannahspelledbackwards
"

Poem about surrender

"
You are so close to that gate;
He holds the key and is calling your name.
Just keep stepping closer-
You're almost there.
He's waiting and yelling, "Run as fast as you can."

I can't choose this for you.
It's up to you to decide.
I wish I could express how much my heart would sing in your eyes
If you laid down your burdens and tried
To rid yourself of all your filth and shame.
Give to the LORD your mind.

It is like a boat on the shore of the sea.
Can't you see Him waving His arms for you and me?
Get on that boat to paradise, love,
He has saved you a seat.
His love so unconditionally draws closer to you -
He is the breath you breathe.

So take part of this journey;
We are all hanging on your every word.
God only knows how much I've fought
For their hopeless judgments excused as concern.
I can't help but remain perturbed.

Make this worth the fight,
Before I make a run for the familiar door
Love is not a fight, but it's sure worth fighting for.
Can't you see how I long for the moments,
My heart I would pour out just for yours
But I'll never admit my anxious feelings:
So heavy, yet wretchedly poor

But you know the choice you must make
Do you not see the path inviting your great escape?
It records and measures every breath you take
Jesus is the Life, the Truth, the One and Only Way

Don't make me ever regret.
All this time; is it wasted?
I couldn't have wasted my breath.
The lovely words that consumed your tongue. . .
Am I the rhythm or the beat of your drum?
I'm not a doll you can fix up or tear down.
I'll have you know, God is the only One who can turn that car around.

Just give up on your filthy life you portray as innocent.
We all know covering up your sins is never worth it.
Throw down your weapons, your swords, your guns, your shield.
Hide His words in your heart,
He is the Light in the darkness revealed.
Fall on your knees in His presence, go ahead and kneel.
Those who fear the LORD our God
Will have a love pure and real.

Don't you see?
Do you understand my heart?
Your soul is yearning for the desire of light in the dark.
You can't adjust your eyes in a place so cold;
I'm waiting for the best part.
Aren't you seeking something that promises to never leave you?
By God, you have been marked.

I know it's long.. But it has meaning. The red words are all indicating God. This is a romantic poem about a girl trying to introduce God to her new found love. Hope you enjoy!

I like this!! you have a strong voice in this piece which carries through the poem! this is very heart felt, and rather evocative - you infuse a lot of emotion and it pays off! allowing us to get an insight into your thoughts! nice!!

Yes, GeoffS I agree. I have been in the same position. Many women can stay in that place for years. We just so want our loved ones to share what is most important to us. Remember, though that we are not meant to deliberatly get into a long term relationship with someone who does not share our beliefs. Too often, when we do it can tear us apart and that is not God's best for us. It is great how you have been able to express so much of your heart through this poetry. Well done!

This is good work. Some may find it preachy, but isn't that how a girl (don't want to appear sexist here, I don't mean it that way) would be? In her eagerness to share, she gives it everything she has. I like this a lot.
