A Chapter by InterijentoWrites

It must have been days before Elle woke up. She was still in the same room, and there was a doctor in her room. He was eyeing her careful.

"Ah, Miss Charles." He said, examining the chart, gathering her name. "Nice to see you awake. You've been sleeping for over 72 hours."

Elle stared at him in disbelief. "Really?" She asked.

He simply nodded his head. "Have you had any bizarre dreams or hallucinations?"

Elle simply shook her head. "No. I think he left." She said softly, hanging her head slightly.

"Thats a good sign. Now, Miss Charles, this sort of thing is not out of the ordinary. Many women go into psychological shock after giving birth. Some experience it in the hospital, some once they get home." He explained, taking a seat on the bed. "Your finance is here, and he has been taking care of your daughter, Isobella."

Lifting her head, Elle's eyes shown with happiness.

"You remember your daughter?" He asked.

Elle nodded in agreement. "Most certainly." She said.

The doctor nodded in satisfaction. "It would appear as though you just needed some sleep. We will be discharging you today." He said, patting her shoulder gently and then leaving the room.

The process was swift, and Elle was home in a matter of hours. She sat on the couch, holding Isobella in her arms. She snuggled the baby close, kissing her forehead and humming gently.

Troy sat across the room, watching, rocking back and forth in a recliner. "How long are you going to stay mad at me?" He asked, his voice seeming to echo throughout the empty house. Emily and Liberty had gone to stay with Emily's parents for a while.

Elle ignored Troy, continuing to talk to Isobella. She ran her slim fingers through the child's baby fine hair, kissing her cheeks and smiling.

Troy made his presence know, throwing the remote across the room, and slapping a newspaper against the end table. He then stormed from the room and out the front door, slamming the door behind him.

Elle stared after him, then quickly looked to Isobella, smiling manically.
