A New Beginning (Page 24)A Chapter by InterijentoWrites3 Years Later Sacramento, California Fiery red curls lay on Elle’s shoulders as she stood in the kitchen of a large mansion in the middle of California’s scorching land. For the past three years, she had lived a simple life- a human life. There had been no magic. She saw no reason for it without Conley. It did not hold the same interest without him. Not much held Elle’s interest lately. Not a day went by that Elle did not think of him. The front door to the mansion swung open, and a child, now seven, ran through the house giggling. “I’m gonna get you!” Emily screamed as she chased the child through the living room. The child shrieked with glee as her mother chased her. Elle called to the two. “Now you two better have brought your appetite!” “I sure did.” A husky male voice came from the foyer as the front door shut. Elle smiled at the sound of her fiancé. He walked into the kitchen, dressed in an expensive suit. He smiled at her, hugging her from behind. He moved her hair aside, kissing her neck lovingly. “I’m glad you’re home.” She said softly. Elle could feel him smile against her neck. “I’m just glad to be home with all my girls. Especially the two in this room.” He said as he kneeled down, hugging Elle’s stomach- she was pregnant. Elle was in her ninth month of pregnancy, and was due any day now. Her due date had been yesterday. “When’s our little one coming?” Troy asked Elle, looking up at her as he put his ear to her stomach. Elle smiled lovingly at him. “Not feeling much like today is the day. She says it’s too warm.” Troy smiled and stood, taking off his suit jacket. He walked to the hallway and hung it up in the closet. Liberty ran past Troy and into the kitchen to Elle. “When’s dinner going to be ready?” Elle turned to her and smiled. “When it’s done.” She said, and Liberty pouted before stomping off to the living room. Emily came into the kitchen next, her blonde hair flowing behind her as she approached Elle. She kissed her cheek, and took the knife out of Elle’s hand and finished cutting up the vegetables for dinner. “Go sit.” Emily ordered. Elle smiled thankfully and walked to the living room. © 2012 InterijentoWritesAuthor's Note
