Pass The Salt

Pass The Salt

A Poem by Deep Meaning
"

A scrumptious poem for all to read. This work details the fine, delicate fancies of a meal with company, which is a rare occurrence nowadays.

"
Food.
Buckets of water.
Bag of rice here, bag of rice there.
I'm not going to ask you again.
Can you pass the salt?
Thanks...
Wait, that's too much!
Sigh...spoiled again.
Pass the...pepper?
Is that pepper?
If it's black, I'll take it.
No, not cayenne.
I'm not racist.
What?

Pass the fish please.
Hey, watch out with that!
Sheesh.
I'll get that for you.
Whoops, sorry.
Oh no I'll clean it.
Paper towel...
We ran out?
Napkin...
We ran out?
Dirty shirt..
What else do you expect?

Cup of warm milk.
Sleepy sleepy.
This milk tastes off...
What do you mean "Yogurt"?
C'mon, I don't have all day.
Pass the freakin' tea biscuits!
Is this expired?

Rice and beans.
Not bad.
It can use some flavor.
Chew chew chew.
Choo choo train.
Lo mein.
Mr. Miyagi.
Karate Kid.

HERE COMES THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
PASS THE SALT!
PASS THE PEPPER!
PASS THE MILK.
We're all having a good time.
TOUCHDOWN.
End of the second inning.

Deep Meaning
One should read this poem with an appetite. Be hungry whether for food or for a delicious poem to read! The taste-buds shall be satisfied either way. Just imagine warm, soft words hitting the page with every splash of ink, carefully coating the paper with incredible precision. But be cautious! Theoretically, if one were to excessively put words in an aggressor's mouth, one were to receive a knuckle sandwich. A light one, yes, perhaps, but a sandwich nonetheless. Could you count those carbs?

As mentioned in the description, this work details the fine, delicate fancies of a meal with company, which is a rare occurrence nowadays. Studies show that a child who eats with their family may be 35% less likely to engage in disordered eating, 24% more likely to eat healthier foods and 12% less likely to be overweight (Hammons & Fiese, 2011).

Indeed, one is to understand the importance of having meals with company. In this day and age, where smartphones dominate the attention of almost each person with even the most boring, horrid games, one must be vigilant in not only consuming food for energy, but enjoying it and talking about it as well. THAT is what this poem tries to exemplify. They say that "Poetry is the food of the substitute English teacher." Indeed, the substitute knows in her stomach that fine cuisine triumphs over black inked carefully dropped on parchment. In reality, we all know it to be true. Spend time with company and observe, for example, how much time they take to chew each bite. Calculate the chew/time ratio and be appalled at how green the greens really are.

The reader may ask, "What's in it for me?" Don't ask such terrible questions when we're talking about FINE literature...amateurs.

nutritional health of children and adolescents? Journal of the American Academy of
Pediatrics, 127, 1565-1574.

Where do I begin? As a chef, I totally agree with this! People need to have a meal with COMPANY. And no, not the business company. While talking about business during the meal is commonplace and usually acceptable, one must realize that time shared together at the table calls for many important matters!

MAGNIFICO!

Oh this is just incredible! And with statistics to back it up?! And works cited? BRAVO! BRAVO! What a touching and important message! Sure, some may say, "This isn't important!" However, to those I say the following: YES IT IS!

Yes, indeed, it is.
Deep Meaning...how true! I also liked the symbolism at the end. You used the words in such a way that, well, made them wordy! Pass the salt! Haha, indeed!

Oh wow! Unlike your other poem (not going to mention which one haha) this is like a good instrumental! As a composer I don't really get too involved in cooking BUT I do like food! And spending time? Wow!

Ah yes I can definitely relate this to the art of music.
