Girl in the MirrorA Poem by Josephine NewGlaring at the girl in the mirror, Tears rolling down my face. They shattered my heart again, I gave all I have and more. Stabbed in the back! Twisting the knife, Into an already vast wound. Desperate to be loved, Needing to be accepted. Never stop searching for kindness! Giving more than I am, Exhausted by the effort. Spinning, turning, falling, Collapsing into sadness. Never feeling enough! Searching for wholeness, Begging for love. Endless loneliness, Even when surrounded by many. Never trusting! Smiling on the outside, Emptiness on the inside. My eyes hold my secret, You can see straight to my soul. Arching and raging for understanding! A little girl staring at the mirror, Pleading to be loved. Searching for someone to understand, Someone to stop the spinning. To simply be enough!
