To play...

To play...

A Poem by Catherine Frain

A little boy, only 5,

was walking among the soldiers.

His own small booted feet,

hitting the ground.

He was full grown, but he was young.

To battle he is marching,

to life or death, his feet carry him.

Guns of power are in his hands.

His helmet shades his eyes,

to hide the deadly scenes.

A distant call...

“Daniel?!”.

brings the young boy

from his world,

to reveal the walls

of green and browns,

and the toy soldier figurines

in between his fingers.

“Coming!” came his answer.

Leaving behind his

imagined world,

he once more moves

around the world of reality.
