It's Christmas TimeA Poem by Catherine FrainLights sparkle in the night, lacing around trees, up staircases, around porches, in bushes. Blow up decorations spot the yards. Santas, and reindeer, and elves- decorate food courts, to brighten the days of children. Snow adorns the ground, a winter wonderland, a child’s white Christmas. Inside, the air smells of cookies and peppermint- snacks for Santa are being made, treats for the jolly man. A tree stands in the corner- bright with green limbs- shining from the blinking multi-colored lights. Tinsel lines the trees, ornaments of shiny materials, some of the memory filled ones, others are new and hold a special value. A pretty tree rug rests beneath the tree, where presents are piled up high across it. Presents wrapped in festive wrapping paper- presents that come from Santa and family. It’s a happy time of year, but some celebrate with those who have no one to celebrate with. This is the time of year, where cheer and joy are spread to those all around. © 2017 Catherine Frain |
