Marionette

Marionette

A Poem by InspireTheWorld

Lovely eyes are glassy and faraway
Lovely supple fingers flit and fray
Lovely fake smiles are stretched ominously wide
As your voice is gone and hidden, inside.

Lovely memories are locked and bolted
Lovely emotions and feelings are forever forgotten
Lovely tears are shed and now dried
As the puppet strings lead and forcefully guide.

The classic idea of being a puppet re-used, but it's what I notice between the lines; the idea that we are born free and overtime become marionette's, forgetting emotions, losing our individuality. The repetitive lines and words giving a simple quality to horror.
