To Dance

To Dance

A Poem by Mark
"

You gotta keep going, no matter what happens to you. To do otherwise is a kind of death.

"
I danced on a cloud
while I sang to the sun
I was full, and whole, and loud
finding, winning the one.

I danced on the ground
while I sang to the sky
When I lost what I'd found
she left. I wondered why.

The chance that I took
left hanging on a hook,
like a used winter coat
or the words that I've wrote.

I'll dance in the morning
and I'll sing all alone.
I'll laugh 'til it's hurting
and the tears make me moan.

I'll dance in the evening
until my legs give out.
I'll sing while I'm grieving
my heart lost in doubt.

I love the stanza:
"The chance that I took
left hanging on a hook,
like a used winter coat
or the words that I've wrote."
The imagery was great. I think the last line sums up that writing itself is taking a great chance.
Lovely!

Thank you ! :)
I just love your rhyming scheme and is highly rhythmic, jostling poem, which is utterly enjoyable, bravo!

Great message. It conveys your enthusiasm well.

A bittersweet romantic write. The rhyming and rhythm are flawless throughout. When the one you love leaves, there are always doubts and "what ifs" and certainly the dancing and singing changes....and not for the better. Good work. Lydi**

Love it. This is exactly how I use to feel and I can relate. Doubt and pain can bring such beautiful words.

Bittersweet, but very relevant. Too many people "give up" in this life...just quit moving forward and sort of sit in a state of static indifference. This was quite moving in concept.
