We are alone

We are alone

A Poem by Mark
"

Togetherness is an illusion

"
I dropped, screaming lungs on fire.
Held tight, laid down, blanket covered dark.
I cry into this space alone .
 I see the desperation,
Standing in the middle of delusion
We hope alone.

Her breathing , naked bodies pressed make me forget a moment.
Then I return to the dark in my skull.

We hold hands, we cling, we pretend.
Coupled we share the illusion that We aren't alone.
 See me, validate my fate.
 I don't need your company
Just tell me what you think.

 Sighing in bed, bones complain
Watery eyes, wrinkled life
Years turned to star light
When it's done, no matter
No sign, no link of mind

We all die alone.

Being intimate does not take away the loneliness when we feel so alone inside.
Others around us cannot make us right...it has to come from within...and often that peace is so hard to attain....Desperation felt here.
Very strong poem Mark.
I relate to this in many ways.

Yes, no matter how many might crowd around a death bed, we are alone as we go - then gone. Nicely put here, Mark. And, of course, there are so many things we do alone.
