closer to the endA Poem by MarkA life worth living doesn't fear death. In the night I can sit in the breeze gazing at the stars and their quiet hope. I know they blaze but from here they just sparkle Distance will do that.
To look at them and their ancient light without thinking of their reality I can still wish, I can still dream, I can still be determined.
The darkness doesn't speak just the crickets expelling heat or wanting company.
The night is not so lonesome anymore It is the place I go soon. I would stay here with the darkness if my eyelids would let me But time has taken my vitality a sip here and there.
Time to rest, time. I lie down wondering if this will be the last. I'm at an age where death is no longer scary just inevitable. © 2020 MarkReviews
