A Sparked Memory

A Sparked Memory

A Poem by Mark

I thought of you
when I heard a laugh.
A thought I hadn't had
in ...
How long?
It was a bitter tasting laugh;
Full of promises.
But, no longer connected,
it rolled away and left me
dry.
the more love I gave away,
the less it hurt.
Until there was no more you,
in me.

I do understand this poem. Small things can remind of people and places missed. I did like the closing lines. Hard to do but we must. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome. Always a pleasure to read your words.
Great last lines, and the ambivalence of smiles ( double bind ) is perfectly observed, fine write

It has taken me 40 years to learn this too.
Simplistic, yet profound.
A+ :)
