A Sparked Memory

A Sparked Memory

A Poem by Mark

I thought of you
when I heard a laugh.
A thought I hadn't had
in ...
How long?
It was a bitter tasting laugh;
Full of promises.
But, no longer connected,
it rolled away and left me
dry.
the more love I gave away,
the less it hurt.
Until there was no more you,
in me.

rolled away and left me dry. Powerful writing.

I really like this and the words are well chosen to make their point. It is like a finger drawing a line in the sand - this is where it stops! "Until there was no more you, in me!" Gone... This is powerful. It is amazing how a song or an old photo or even just a forgotten memory can bring back a whole bunch of sad feelings This is good.

There are those who just take and take and then there is nothing left in us at all. This great poem so superbly underlines that. Thank you so much for reminding us that we all need love to give love.

Oh boy, my eyes are getting bad. I thought the title said a Spanked Monkey. lol

But, no longer connected,
it rolled away and left me
dry.

Great way to say it! Some days every where I go bits and pieces of people haunt me in a memory sparked.

Absolutely, Mark. Feel the void left by another with love for others. Very wise write, my friend.
