Alone

Alone

A Poem by Mark
"

'Gonna buy me a ticket, as far as I can now. Gonna ride til the train run out of track'

"
cold winds blowing shivers
Sun please come worship me

lost in a desert,
alone among millions
faces roll in on high tide

I wanted, oh what I wanted
wanted to see was

you walking toward me.

Forests bursting over with life
in songs and whispers speaking to me

I fall like a log with a
rotten, decay-eaten heart
crashing quietly to the floor

What I wanted, what I can't see,
is what happened to you

that you walked away from me.

Seas of humans, each a snowflake
piled into a heap of thought

The mountain breaths thin air
caressed by clouds
alone in altitudes far from emotion

Would I worship there?
Could I shed humanity's grasp
and stop craving recognition?

And so the last places are where
the shadows of what I've passed

mold ever bigger piles of regret
into dunes blown by
my emotional winds.

Why does 'alone' have to sound
like it's so sad?

Being left alone sucks! My husband passed away 3 years ago and some days I almost get mad at him for leaving me here alone. I feel for you. Valentine

A strength and a fearlessness - we are not alone, and if we are, so be it... all feelings like this you have expressed, Mark, are brought home and made loving, and safe. That is what I get from your fine poem.

Thank you for reading Cassie.
There is such a plaintive cry in this loneliness:

Seas of humans, each a snowflake
piled into a heap of thought

I love that image.
