Where ?

Where ?

A Poem by Mark
"

listen to the song

"
I tried seeing the world in a pair of
me and you.
You looked like mine, you looked so fine
but it was all smoke and mirror.

Life gave me lemons and I got
tired of lemonade.
Drops of sweat in my cup
tasted bitter and suited me more.

Only the clouds soothe me
making me sheets of drenching wet,
a faded projection of you
flickering on the rain.

You twirl in strobed holography
flickering body and laugh.
Subtly sexy and clearly
honestly, lovingly mine.

What I wanted to see
all I ever wanted for me
was the version of you
I had in a dream.

All I can do is keep trudging
with the love I have;
family, friends
people I barely know.

I hope someday
you'll step from the rain, smiling,
and entwine your fingers in mine
And then we can go home.

Wow. How painfully this found me. It's reality though
We must keep trudging.
This is the first work of yours that Ive read.
Looking forward to reading more. :)

A poet I like ; the second verse is a real cracker, full of bitter humour ; Mark`s style !

Sometimes those dream versions just dont appear... very melancholy write Mark. Deeply moving!

I was most struck by this line:

You twirl in strobed holography

What's real what isn't and when will reality show its true face...I also liked the line where you said

All I can do is keep trudging
with the love I have;

and hope, we can always hope.

I never thought of it that way but you're right.
it's difficult to get someone to be the version you want them to be. you can't change a person. you just have to let them be.

Yes, the more hopeless thing is ever FINDING the person you believe you want.
Darkly etch'd with sadness, it could be a country western tune as well Mark, enjoyed! :-)

Two of what you're having, all of what you got.... Thanks Thomas. :)
This is so sad yet so beautiful. Every lost lover's prayer. Very touching and so reminiscent of my own pain.
