It's Over

It's Over

A Poem by Mark
"

The finality of relationship used to be less concrete before technology.

"
We were entwined once, heart to heart,
candy apple blood pumped through yours and mine.
Then love was ripped from us, torn out,
and the pain was just so; just that bright.

I"m healed now, the ache only remembers in soft clouds.
I am it's myth of another time.
It remembers blurred mosaics of us, of places we shared.
Slowly, even they are becoming lost in the fog of time's dance.

And now I sit on carved square steps
holding this you in my hands.
My fingers do not tremble as
I look at your picture on the little screen.

Deliberately, slowly, they target
the spot of the screen I must hit,
I must touch, and then let go.
I smile sadly, hopefully, as I delete you from my phone.

I can relate to everything written here. Beautifully written, with thoughtful words to convey the emotion of the time. I believe that love only dies when we make it die. To purge every memento, every connection, every word exchanged, is like a burial. Memories are archived in the dungeons of the heart, sometimes covered with the dust-sheets of a new love's words, opinions and views, to further decay the presence of anything that remains. I know I grieved in quiet moments. I still do sometimes. JJ

A woman's heart is a little different I think. A very poetic review, enjoyed reading it :)

in times past we tore up photographs or burned love letters now we delete with the touch of
a button, I guess it all boils down to the same thing, letting go,
I am with you though, really related to this, beautiful work mark.

Yes it does my friend. Thank you.
What I like is the mix of almost Elisabethian imagery, then the modern/techno picture at the end.So a poem that spans many years, a good write

This is very beautiful. Letting go is a hard thing. But it must be done in order to end up happy.

It does seem to be an act of healing these days. Great one, Mark. We seem to be a on similar wave-length these days.

I've stared at the save/delete Icon a few times myself. Great poem. It had a weight to it.

Oh Mark...this aches!! Sigh....yes it is different today. All the remnants of your love floating around in technological orbit. Back in the day we had love letters and cards that were tucked away in some box on a shelf. Nothing was there staring you in the face waiting for a delete button. This is a magnificint write friend. (Did you mean to put the word once twice in the first line?) ;-)
