Don't Think

Don't Think

A Poem by Mark

I look at the red where life
spills into death.

I feel the sky spill on my closed eyes
nourishing dirt into life.

to live, to die, to feed...

and leaving; live again.

Oh death, your darkness
swallows the light.

I don't have to be blinded
I don't have to be whole
cuz when I feel,
I transcend this robot of meat
and am reminded where I came from.

Hmm... I think I like this and I haven't read anything in this style from your talented "pen" before. I wondered about the use of "spill(s)" in two consecutive lines (2 and 3), but that's just me and my prefs. Interesting use of "cuz" too...
"Robot of meat" is an excellent metaphor which says it all about how we feel at times. I like visiting your poetry, kinda "like a box of chocolates....". Happy 2014 :) Justine

The repeat of spill was intentional to cement the relationship between the two lines. Thanks for rea.. read more

We would do well to remember our souls … powerful write, Mark.

Listening to White Stripes. 'hit you in the bones' music brings it out in me.
