Hitchhiker's Plea

Hitchhiker's Plea

A Poem by Mark
"

Scientists discovered what might be an ancient sea bed on Mars recently.

"
I want to hitch a ride to Mars,
Please NASA I can't pay for fuel
but I'll bring my own food. my own water
and I'll find someone to teach me how
to make air.

Please, you can leave me in
the billion year dead sea.
I'll sift the bottom for ancient hearts
and perhaps find what killed them.

The 7 billion of us won't have
to feel so alone.

Please, you won't have to bring me back
I'll find bones and make sand waves
to the ghosts of aliens
who perhaps will teach me... Why?

and then,
I won't need home anymore.
What is left of me will finally know.
I'll stay 'til the moon stops crying.

"Melancholic" s the word that comes to mind here. Particularly with the last line. Excellent poem Mark.

Thanks. Melancholic is a great word. :)
until the moon stops crying, how provocative, the moon, a dry desolate place that weeps at our ignorance as a planet, we know nothing of what orbits us, a great piece my love, I'll be thinking of it all night x
