Hitchhiker's Plea

Hitchhiker's Plea

A Poem by Mark
"

Scientists discovered what might be an ancient sea bed on Mars recently.

"
I want to hitch a ride to Mars,
Please NASA I can't pay for fuel
but I'll bring my own food. my own water
and I'll find someone to teach me how
to make air.

Please, you can leave me in
the billion year dead sea.
I'll sift the bottom for ancient hearts
and perhaps find what killed them.

The 7 billion of us won't have
to feel so alone.

Please, you won't have to bring me back
I'll find bones and make sand waves
to the ghosts of aliens
who perhaps will teach me... Why?

and then,
I won't need home anymore.
What is left of me will finally know.
I'll stay 'til the moon stops crying.

I think even to Mars your emotions will follow. A really smart and interesting write, Mark. Wouldn't it be amazing to learn of alien life.

Thank you Pryde. Yes, I think that day may not be all that far off. :)
Oh I found this piece so interesting, it was just 5 minutes I was reading about them finding that The asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs may have catapulted life to Mars and the moons of Jupiter, US researchers say - interesting right?

Loved this piece Mark - really well done.

Thank you dear one ;)
Like this, a poem that cleverly presents a critique of us all, with a bit of irony and SF mixed, very good.

Thanks for reading Stanley ! :)
A very sad poem in many ways Mark as you wonder and yearn desperately to find life after death on an alien world. A very thought provoking write.

Thanks John. Always been a fan of getting off the Earth LOL
This is quite the romanticized view of Mars. Although, this piece has the feel of loneliness. Nice write. Thank you for your creativity.
