Hitchhiker's Plea

Hitchhiker's Plea

A Poem by Mark
"

Scientists discovered what might be an ancient sea bed on Mars recently.

"
I want to hitch a ride to Mars,
Please NASA I can't pay for fuel
but I'll bring my own food. my own water
and I'll find someone to teach me how
to make air.

Please, you can leave me in
the billion year dead sea.
I'll sift the bottom for ancient hearts
and perhaps find what killed them.

The 7 billion of us won't have
to feel so alone.

Please, you won't have to bring me back
I'll find bones and make sand waves
to the ghosts of aliens
who perhaps will teach me... Why?

and then,
I won't need home anymore.
What is left of me will finally know.
I'll stay 'til the moon stops crying.

I love the visuals Mark! And I have to say, the poem feels fun AND lonely. I like the mix.

This one feels sad and lonely. The extent we will go to not feel alone.

This was stranger than I expected and this is always a good thing. I like the content and much of the poem, though some lines were a little sticky feeling to me as I read it... you know words that stuck out to me for sound and sound alone. The concept is cool and I enjoyed reading.

Thank you very much. Strange works for me :)
Wow Mark, this was whimsical and mysterious all at the same time. What an absolutely wonderful dream you have painted. So many good lines to pull any aside to glow. This was so very cool my friend.

it's been a dream of mine. thanks for reading :)
I like where you took this. I don't know if it was your intention, but it made me realise how insignificant we are and how the many things we accrue in life really hold little value when we're gone. Symbolically, to rummage around in a dead sea for bones, artifacts or whatever is to rediscover the past or rewrite what we know, filling gaps on what we lack. Just like self reflection and learning from our mistakes. Probably read too deeply, but I enjoyed this - refreshingly different. Justine

Thank you Justine, your interpretation is wonderful I think.:)
It's beautiful Mark...who we are beyond this planet? It is far beyond what our own imagining can grasp. The moon does most certainly cry as it overlooks what we are doing to our beautiful blue planet. I love the celestial imagery in this one.

Thank you dear lady. I started seeing a crying face in the Moon at a very young age.
A very meaningful piece! I love it! Thanks for sharing!
