Forever Be

We like to exclaim our love in terms too huge to contemplate don't we?

How long is forever?

When those mountains were buried

and the Earth was violent

was it still you and me?

Now they've risen, they crumble

under life, water, and air.

Forever is a closet

dark and unknown.

it's where we deposit

what we intone.

We keep moving the door

afraid of the embers.

We've met before but 

who remembers?

I'll be with you

where the ocean is

I'll be true

til the stars fizz

Just how long

can Forever be?

You have given me so much to ponder today, Mark... It's true we often hear the phrase "I'd love you to be with you forever." or the like but such were spoken in carelessness or ignorance. Based from my own experiences, those "forevers" took up 6 months at most. Haha.
