Autumn 2013

Autumn 2013

A Poem by Mark

A gentle breeze brings the first shiver
and wish for wool of the season.
Seeded by Summer crickets, the air
is now full of soon to sleep promise.

Cold night blooms chase away the Sun
grown tired, leaving us sooner each night;
its vibrance spent. The green turning,
all the lands whisper of sleep and white covers soon to come.

Even the roads' whining seems half hearted
as they make no attempt to hold scattered leaves.
Only the wind seems to have life;
a cold harbinger of the ice coming.

Wow, Mark. I feel the edge of fall on my heels while reading your poem. Probably my favorite time of year (spring holds a close second) - you express the change of the season quite well! Although it was 90 here today, I notice the tops of the maple trees in my front yard are starting to turn. A few more weeks and we'll be at top color. Then... The chill will soon follow ;)
