Autumn 2013

Autumn 2013

A Poem by Mark

A gentle breeze brings the first shiver
and wish for wool of the season.
Seeded by Summer crickets, the air
is now full of soon to sleep promise.

Cold night blooms chase away the Sun
grown tired, leaving us sooner each night;
its vibrance spent. The green turning,
all the lands whisper of sleep and white covers soon to come.

Even the roads' whining seems half hearted
as they make no attempt to hold scattered leaves.
Only the wind seems to have life;
a cold harbinger of the ice coming.

Thanks hon, do you send out RR's?
The circle is always open isn't it? The delicate and yet overpowering seasonal exhalation alters so many things for some people....this is lovely hon! x

Great imagery in this one...makes me want to snuggle up on the couch with a nice, warm blanket. The seasons are changing...both physically and metaphorically in this piece. The image/idea I like the most is the sun "grown tired" and leaving us sooner every night...great personification of the great golden goddess of the daytime sky.

Thanks for reading. Glad you like it.
it is an accurate description of what is happening in the interim. it's a nice farewell to summer. it also has foreboding elements when talking about the arrival of winter. great job.

I just saw the movie, Tinkerbell, Secret Of The Wings, and your poem very much reminds me of the difference they showed between Winter and Summer. While I consider myself a winter person, I understand the importance of summer - new life for new vegetation and the coming of spring - hope.

Thanks for sharing this cool and wintry poem, Mark !
