Soft stone

Soft stone

A Poem by Mark

Darlin', you don't know
what it is to cover a soft stone heart
a laugh, a sigh to cover
cover the hurt,
freeze the desire
choke back the tears.
Baby, you don't wanna know
what it's like to have a soft stone heart
and wonder if it shows
wonder where, where
can I go to cry, where
do I go to die.

Practice the face, hold it
so still.
Breath out the love
take in all this rage
the hurt can't make me bleed
my soft stone heart doesn't need.

Pretend you didn't see
Don't cover, don't comfort me
I got a soft stone heart
I won't ever, no no never
I'll never set it free.

A poet that is writing well, a subtle, clever insight into guys, both strong and weak as we are..

First off tough guy, you shouldn't insult the ladies saying only guys would understand this...there's that fine line you cross between sensitivity and whinging a helluva lot. True emotions from the heart always connect two people in some way, I don't think it's women so much as your own kind that frown upon a man showing his softer side...

Thank you AM. I'm glad you liked it.
Mark I so get this.. You have to be stone on the inside or pretend to be while in reality your heart is so soft and loving and vulnerable.... Why put up a front? I think its more the way boys/men are raised.. Don't let your vulnerabilities show.. don't cry son, boys don't cry.. never let anyone see you cry. Vulnerability in a man is an amazing and very desirable thing for a woman to see yet most are taught to hide it.

Show me a man with a soft stone heart and I'll know he would be one that could have stolen mine.. Very poignant and relateable even to me (a lady) xo Rose

No, I get it. That which is most fragile must be guarded. Lest it wash away with tears. BUT COME ON!!!! lol. A very poignant and insightful write.
