This Time

This Time

A Poem by Mark
"

A blues lyric

"
I looked into those eyes
and I refused to let it shine.
you and I go down
that road too many time.
Oh, I felt my heart crispin'
I walked away in lies.
I knew I was deceivin'
Why would you change my mind?
Just look my way again
and I know I'll fall this time.
Oh just look my way once more
and I won't need any other sign.
Fallin' for you baby
is like drinkin' bitter wine.
Ya I fell hard but maybe
there's good in what we find.
I looked into your eyes
and I fell out of my mind.
Ya, you and I got down
and I pretend now that I'm fine.
Walkin' away now baby
don't try and pretend you're kind.
I know you're bad and lonely
And I won't be  a wastin' time.
Fallin' for you baby
is like drinkin' bitter wine.
Fallin' for you but maybe
I won't hit my head this time.

You know what? I was just gonna say this was a fine bluesy lyric piece and then I looked at your description and smacked my forehead. Have you met me? I am Captain Obvious!
I like the grit this one has - indicative of the genre - there is a strength in the heartache. Yeah, you kicked the crap out of me and it hurt but I am not incapacitated kind of thing. I like the repetitive elements in this as well.

Hmm too late, I think you hit your head already! I could definitely hear this melody in my head, 'fell out of my mind', yep, sounds like love...play it again Mark. Good one!

Mark this is a very raw piece of poetry. Funny how we seperate and pretend everything is ok while we suffer and neither party dares to break the code. Sometimes the people we chose just rub us up the wrong way and maybe that is a warning?

Do! I shall listen...
This just bleeds blue. I LOVE the refrain, there is so much truth in those lines:

Fallin' for you baby
is like drinkin' bitter wine.
Ya I fell hard but maybe
there's good in what we find.

One note, you might want to add an s to time in the first stanza. Great poem, I hope your words get put to music.

Thanks Ice. I like it without the s there, gives it a colloquial feel.

Enough said- I definitely get that.
Great, I will grab my old Strat and put a few chords to this..standard blues changes, 12 bar, maybe with a walking bass line..like the poem, like the blues !

Wow, nicely written there, Mark !

And yep, the first time I went drinking with Chris I fell and hit my head. No fun. I guess what really hurt is that more people were laughing rather than concerned, yah - well - no fun.

I don't know if Love is like that for me tho. It's just a ticklish kinna warmth that makes me feel good all over. I've never been hurt in love yet, but then maybe I've never found love - yet. :)

I like this part especially tho:
"I looked into your eyes
and I fell out of my mind."

Mark, if you're gonna fall in love, there's no problem there, just make sure she's there to catch you. :)
