Skin Deep
A Poem by
Mark
The dust of a star
and comets made mud.
We were formed into halves
wanting to be whole.
The success of the species
is due to it's nature
In stars, and rivers, oceans, and mountains
we see it, we feel it, we deny it, we fantasize it...
attraction.

INTRODUCTION
This is a beautiful a t t r a c t i o n :)
THE MAGNIFYING GLASS
"The dust of a star
and comets made mud."
Beautiful allusion to astrology and science.
"We were formed into halves
wanting to be whole."
This is a universal quote. However, I love how you combined it with astrology.
"In stars, and rivers, oceans, and mountains"
This line depicts the elements with b e a u t y. This reminds me of the Book of Genesis.
CONCLUSION
I, for one, enjoyed the punch line: "attraction."
I loved how you have combined poetry with science and faith.
Nicely done, Mark!

An eloquent poem on our nature and a plea to return to that nature.

We were formed into halves wanting to be whole...I love this line. So much passion and truth in your words. Especially the bit about denial. Beautifully written.

Mark, Chris and Leslie could not have put it better. Lovely piece of thought provoking writing in a few well chosen words

Attraction ? Some can be quite fatal, others can be quite devastating. For the attractions I've had (and have partaken of) in life, I can't honestly say one of them has not in some way been bittersweet. Merely for the fact, they continued, or - worse yet, they ceased to continue.
Passion, attraction, and desire - all revolve around the same 3-bladed Shuriken, and no matter which way you grab it, you will always get cut - and sometimes - the feeling is so strong we ignore the damage we do, not just to ourselves but to others.
And we call that, perhaps out of our own naive innocence - LOVE.

yes, grab it and get cut. And yet we are mesmerized into grabbing it again, and again.

It does hurt. And I know I will always be grabbing for it tho. :)
