Accepting good - bad- joy- pain - to an extent but to wish for painful/bad ( as in, cruel fate) times, I think not. None the less, a thought provoker, Mark.
The secret to life, eh? Everyone's always searching for it but I think you've unlocked it, here. In order to feel and experience and revel in absolute joy, you have to feel ultimate sorrow. The highs and lows of our lives create a myriad of twists and turns, not unlike a wild roller coaster, and we are all the better for having bought a ticket.
Sing to your heart's content, Mark. Sing as loudly as possible, especially in Swahili.

is is the drum beats that fill you so? i always find that the music which really digs deep into my soul is contingent upon where my heart is at the time. this is a joyful and thoughtful write, an excellent exploration of the inner being and the effects of primal instinct and music. well done!

The quality of the music... it sounds so filled with joy and sadness at the same time.
I"m a gypsy born in New Hampshire, raised in Alaska, schooled in Washington, raised a family in California. Recently settled in Concord NH area. Where to next? I don't really have to think about it, i.. more..
