Grateful

Grateful

A Poem by Mark
"

Ommm padmi hummmm

"
I am so grateful for the heaven, the stars
To grab hold of all of it, I strive

It's so fateful, who I am and you are,
This bright moment, I know I'm  alive

I need a fire to douse the heat of my heart
I couldn't keep it from falling apart
I let it go, and I need you to know...
I am so grateful.

I am so grateful for the moment you were
It was the joy and it was the pain

I am so grateful for blue sky and rain
don't have to pray for what I once craved.

But I am grateful we had our time
It's all I needed, I want you to know.

I need a fire to douse the heat of my heart
I couldn't keep it from falling apart
I let it go, and I need you to know...
I am so grateful.

For a moment I held it all
grasping at air, I watched it all go

The sorrow burned like the heat of a star
Nova'd out now, the white bleeded my soul

I am so grateful I have these words
All that I  needed, already occurred

I am so grateful I am able to want
Blue sky and rain, the day and the dark.

haphazard rhyming I know, but it just fit ... in my head anyway. :P

still grateful in times of sadness, that shows a good positivism. i like this.

Mark, there is wisdom in this beautifully penned verse. Being in that state of gratitude for the rain as well as blue skies, for things out of out control, even for loss and for sorrow, for the ability to carry on. Wisdom from life's and love's sometimes stormy ride. Inspiring. The repetition and rhyme makes this work perfectly.

Sigh, sometimes if you love something you have to let it go. But yes, we must hold it in our hearts too, remembering how the memory enriches us. Beautiful thoughts and words Mark.
I think its better that you went with your gut instinct and didn't let the rhyming dominate or spoil your ideas.

A fine write with loads of good lines, love, for example Nova´d out , a nice mix of the universal and personal, and it, as you say fits..the only important point for me about a poem is whether it works - and this works fine,`- a great job.

What a wonderful chain of words! You're holding on to the best of what's been, seen the beauty that was, remember the warmth, hold onto the good, the positive. Tis so easy to resort to negatives, spite and the like. But you have a beautiful spirit; consequently your post is a wonderful lesson. The recurring lines are special, truly special , 'I need a fire to douse the heat of my heart ~ I couldn't keep it from falling apart ~ I let it go, and I need you to know ~ I am so grateful.' There'a inevitably a reason when one stops to draw breath and think - and you have, graciously, admirably.

I am so grateful you wrote this poem Mark. It feels so sad and yet it's message is a sweet one to one you have seen pass by. All too often we become bitter and forget when we have parted the beauty we saw in someone before our love tumbled into the abyss.

As a poem...this is quite a work of art I like the natural fluency of thoughts and haphazard (as you say) but efforless rhyming. 100/100

But I do not agree with this train of thoughts. If it was just an affair, it's all right but if it was someone who meant more, I would fight and not 'watch it all go' and I would pray for what I craved. Sorry...maybe some wounds are steal healing, but what's with men and their grateful resignation once they think it's done?
Please take it in good spirit :)
