Runes of Love

Runes of Love

A Poem by Mark
"

Perhaps the biggest impetus to understanding is the utter failure of communication. Confusion is a vault door opaque and impenetrable to one person, invisible to the one who holds its keys.

"
I got lost in the math of your heart.
I wandered, days untold
past white boards filled
in red figures and arcane runes.

I tried in vain to decipher
the path to your love.
Thirsty and hungry I weakened
while passion and pain eluded me.

I got lost in the math of your heart.
I can not find my way.
The shadows of these equations
need your illumination.

This was well done~~sometimes the human heart is an unfathomable algebraic problem and its an agonizing joy to try to solve it

A strong write, that uses simple language to describe complex, difficult situations, the kind of poetry I like, direct effective metaphors ( math of your heart) that transport meaning superbly - excellent.

Thank you for your thoughtful review Leslie :)
A very nice write that talks about the futility of ineffective communication, something that can take a great toll on relationships.... Yes, sometimes we talk n talk yet it seems we are not getting anywhere. You address this just the right way when you say "I got lost in the math of your heart." It ends in a tone of submission that talks about talking a step back to allow the other person to speak and explain him/herself (The shadows of these equations need your illumination.) So it is a rather positive tone that the poem ends with! Nice and unique work :)
