Life in the GSAA Poem by Jess_l_yI wrote this poem after spending a few weekend overnight camps with the Santa Fe Mountain Center Gay Straight Alliance. This is still how I feel about the GSA, and I can't wait to go back again.
Life’s not too bad on the outside I’m one of the lucky ones It’s not too sad Just feels like a rerun
Out there, I don’t get pushed around Just ignored I don’t have to hide and fear being found But here I’ve scored
People understand me? They know what I mean! How could that be? I’m not just another stupid f****t teen.
Here my feelings are real. Everyone cares, and I care right back These people help me to heal. Sometimes love feels like a heart attack.
Why is there no place like this at home? Home is where the heart is. There all I have is a goddamn phone. My heart is with his heart, And her heart, and theirs… And with dragon’s, Here nobody cares!
If I’m gay, if I’m straight, if I’m bi, pan or trans. If I fall, you will catch me And the ropes of our love (our connections) will be… Everlasting. © 2011 Jess_l_yAuthor's Note
