What If?

What If?

A Poem by Inner Rain

What if this was where we fell in love?

Underneath the tall trees

Laying on the orange leaves

What if this is how we fell in love?

Red as the maple leaf

But good as the evergreen

What if this was when we fell in love?

Would it be different?

Would it be the same?

Would we still be?

What if this was where we fell in love?

Would we change as the seasons do?

Die in the winter chill, and make love in the spring?

What if this where we met?

Underneath the tall trees

Laying on the orange leaves

Walking under the sun

With a cool breeze in our hair

Away from the city

Away from buildings so tall

Away from them all

What if this was where we fell in love?

What if we fell in love here instead?

I agree with "walk away slow poet"; such a warmth and calm to this piece

This write made me sit here and smile, it has a warm loving feeling to it. This is wonderfully beautiful and ever so poetic.
