Despair

Despair

A Poem by Inner Rain
"

A Shakespearean Sonnet

"
Sparkling gray in the damp and rainy night
The moon is as pale as my reflection
But even much more luminous with light
Than my plastic smile of lost-direction
Shining are the stars looming high above
The lake bearing light like refined silver
But absent is my moon of tender love
And no stars to be my peace-giver
There are no more tree-roots to soak the rain
No dear hands to halt my feverish wave
Only I shall pine my wrath, rage and pain
Until the time comes i cease to crave
Lost and a relic of what i once known
I am the child's-toy that he has outgrown

Wonderful imagery throughout. Especially like this line "There are no more tree-roots to soak the rain" and the final line is a gem. Great work!
