A Shakespearean Sonnet

To Lara, a name so steadfast, i bid you hello
Hello from the unbowed lands of Thailand!
Oh what wonders are here up in the trees and below
I wish you were by my side to hold my hand

Loudly the elephants of these lands trumpet
But never as loud as how this heart beats for you
And as i watch the sun as it rises and sets
I do not wish you to have ice-cold feelings and be blue

Here in this great land they have many foods that tickle the tongue
But nothing compares to the taste of the "Sinigang" you cook
While touring the land, a great many songs i have joyously sung
While imagining you in your chair, quietly writing your book

And as i end this letter with a hopeful farewell
A hope that our love will bloom into an even grander story to tell
