The Animal Called Love

The Animal Called Love

A Poem by Inner Rain

After many hours of countless wondering
While i was smiling with endless sighing
I entered a domain of my witless mind
To ignore the thoughts would be being blind

Amongst the trees of oak and fir
Something behind the bushes rustled and spurred
A creature of the wood called with a growl
And then came an aroma cold and foul

And there was the sound of scratching claws
With the compulsive power of its muscular claws
I backed up a distance away, keeping myself still
Hoping that the creature would appear at only my will

Sofia, Sofia, it called out that name
And softly and slowly, closer it came
My dear girl, are you Sofia? it asked
I shook my head and in lies i basked

Uninterested in such dangers i don't know of
I scared away that animal they called love
