PrologueA Chapter by InkzPrologue
The echoing sound of heavy breathing and underwater bubbles spread through the darkness The soundwaves of grunts soon joined the echoes as consciousness began to hit. Towards the center pf the darkness, hazel green eyes began revealing as they freed themselves from their imprisonment underneath the eyelids. Blurred silhouettes formed as the green hues made attempts at looking at their surroundings. At failed attempts, onky one things was for sure, he was in green water. His vision was only clear enough to see blurred forms of men in white lab coats. It was then he notticed wires around him. His eyes lowered to examine his own bare body. Wires were suctioned to him from head to toe. "Angel..." the faint sound of a males' voice rang through his ears. "Experiment..." a different voice came in. As much as he tried to concentrate, he wasnt consiousnce enough to hear the whole conversation. The fact that he was underwater didnt help either. He made an effort to raise his hands but he couldnt seem to move anything other than his head. The water seemed so heavy it was as if he was paralized from the neck down. There was a loud crash, the impact of it causing the water to swish around. Breathing heavily through an oxygen mask, his head turned around towards the sound of the crash, though it was an effort.. Six feet from him was a woman. She stood on what seemed to be an experimental tube big enough to fit an overseized male, or at least what was left of it. Her damped raven hair half hid the hazel green eyes that raged out at the men in the lab coats. That's when it hit him. This wasn't you're average mad scientist experiment. This went deeper, darker; not just politically illegal but much more than that.He wasn't sure why, but he knew what ever went on this laboratory was far more than humans should be able to comprehend. Blurred vision tried to concentrate on the woman. Her experimental tube was broken, and unlike him she wasn't loopy. She was well energized and ready to fight. The next seconds were a flash. Glass shattered and water splashed everywhere. He fell to the ground, landing on his hands and chest. Gun shots roared loudly, passing over his head. Before he knew it, he was on his feet again. His right arm was quickly placed over someones shoulder. Small hands roamed over his lower torso so that they could wrap themselves around it. He rolled his head to the left side, turning his face to look at the right of him to get a look at his rescuer. It took a second before he recognized the person. "Alexia..." he whispered Alexia was his twin sister. They were identical in every aspect, hair, eyes, tanned skin, except height. He was at 6'1 while she barely made the marking for 5'3. the curves on her clothless body were well shapped it would make the angels sign. As to her brother, his muscular curves made him look like he came out of a magazine. "Stay with me!" Alexia exclaimed to her brother. his eyes felt heavy, making it hard for him to keep them open. "D****t Rhoan! Don't you dare fall asleep on me!"nshe exclaimed again, running towards a spotted window, one fourteenth of a mile from where they were. The window was inches away before they were forced to a stop. Soldiers in black and grey army uniform surrounded the twins. They held up bureta 92 hand guns, all fully loaded and ready to fire on command. A soldir stepped forward. He was the only one of the two dozen soldiers that didn't held a gun. Instead it was replaced by a long ranged tazer. There was a tag on his uniform that read 'Cpt. Hatake." A sinister smirk crept its way up Hatake's lips as he lowered his tazor so that it would land between the twins. The silent ominious air was pierced by the screams of agony. Instead of the ear blowing sounds subsiding, it was replaced by grunts as a burning sensation peeled between the twins' shoulder blades and spines. The sensation of it churned in Alexia's stomach, vile threatning to rise up in her. "Hold your fire and step back" Hatake finally spoke out. A dozen of the soldiers unloaded their guns and dropped them. "What happened to us?" Alexia demanded. Shaking the fragile sensation of wanting to pass out, Rhoan pulled his arm back from over Alexia' shoulder. He barely managed to steady himself on his own feet, stepping infront of Alexia. The hazel green eyes that irretably rested on the young males face adjusted themselves to take in their surroundings. They looked over at every soldier individualy, sending interest, confusion, and examinaion vibes through out the rest of the body. They noted how every soldier looked almost a like. They all bore the same black eyes that barely held the pupils and the same height and weight: 5'11 and 160 lbs. The soldiers' eye caught Rhoan's attention. They were dark and empty. Almost as if all the humanity was sucked right out of them. It gave Rhoan an eerier feeling. "our order are to let them go" Hatake ordered his soldiers. His voice was calm but that sinister smile was still imprinted n his lips. The soldiers hesitated for a second but did as told. They dropped their weapons and turned to leave. "You're free to go" Hatake spoke again. Confusion surged through the twins. Rhoan opened his arm in front of Alexia, shielding her if anything should happen. "Your job here is done" Hatake began, "He will call you when you are needed again." "Who is he?" Alexia asked before Rhoan had the chance to. "All in good time" Hatake finished, amusement dancing on his lips as he dramatically turned to leave. "What makes you think we'll be back" Rhoan barked out. Hatake turned his upper torso to look at the twins. His lips held so many secrets that awaited to fly out. "You have no choice" he began again, "In any matter, you will come of your own free choice. Now if you please, I must ask you to leave the premises before you get charged for trespassing." With tha he straightened himself and walked away. "What about clothes?!" Alexia yelled out. It was no use, Hatake was gone. "Now what?" Rhoan sighed out looking over at Akexia. Letting out a deep breath, Alexia shook her head. "I dont know." Moving her to the window, Rhoan looked outside. No one was there. Lifting a hand, he ran his fingers through his hair, stopping at the top, leaning his elbow against the wall, "D****t" he cursed. Putting the coat on, Alexia looked over at Rhoan, "How are we going to get out, it might be a trap." Rhoan crossed his arms, having already put on his lab coat, and looked out the window, studying the quiet sounds and empty air that filled outside. "Through the front of course, we cant exactly jump out." Alexia looked at her brother, "Hello? Have you not been listening? This could all be a trap, we cant go waltzing around, we'd be doing what they wanted!" Rhoan's thoughful expression soon turned to a frown. His gaze left the outside, "Unless you have a better idea, it's all we got. We cant exactly jump; we're atleast 8 stories up." Alexia just shrugged. "Fine, if we get caught, I'm blamming you." Rhoan rolled his eyes at his sister, "Fine, if they chase us, then we'll jump out and splatter ourselves." Alexia made a mocking face and pushed past her brother. The twins poked both their heads outside the door. The long hallways were empty, only filled with emptied plain walls and some cracked open doors. As empty as it was, the air around was ominous. The twins steadied themselves, ready to move on when a new sensation rushed through them. The air chilled by at least 30 degrees. They both looked around after shortly hearing a low muffled growled. The groul wasnt friendly; nor one you would hear on a common stray protecting its territory. This growl was deeper, darker... unearthly. "I told you..." Alexia whispered. "Oh shut up" Rhoan whispered back, pulling his sister behind himn, his arms covering her like a shield. There was a flash and the twins were knocked down to the floor. Rhoan' head hit the wall on the other side of the lab. Alexia's head was hit by a cabinet that was close by on the eastern wall. There was a stench in the air that reaked of death. Miasmic slobber hit the twins' faces, causing them to gag. The rate of he heartbeat that beat within Alexia began to rapidly increase as soon as she had sence of what was going on. Her hazel eyes stared into dark and empty depths of a dog. "Rhoan..." Alexian tried to whisper. There was no responce. Just the eerie silence. It was soon broken by a yell. The yell echoed, lingering itself in the empty space of the room "Rhoan!" Alexia shouted out, throwing her head back in hopes she could find her brother. The dog barked as she did so. Alexia's attention shot back to the massive weight on her. The monstrous beast opened its jaws. Its breath was visible, almost as if the breath was its own poisonous gas. A loud scream forced itself out of Alexia's throat as razor sharp teeth closed in on her. Darkness then began to take over Alexia's consiousness. She'd known they never had a chance, and now her life was slowly slipping from her. © 2010 InkzAuthor's Note
