Haunted

Haunted

A Poem by Brandon Wile

I was haunted by the gaze

That became my last escape

Lungs filled with poison

Breathing in this fate

Dead on arrival that night

Her kiss sealed my collapse

I died here with a smile

Clutching an oxygen mask

Victims of counterfeit love

Corrupting where we confide

We find every last refuge

To hide away our dark side

Pulling back these covers

Of a restless hospital bed

Somewhere Between Life & Death

And all the words left unsaid

There's a raven to my left

Between the doorpost and the light

If love always finds a way

How do we survive the night?
