Into The Night

Into The Night

A Poem by Brandon Wile

A static memory

All that remains

Of restless nights

And wakeful dreams

Ten thousand pounds

Of burdens carried

With feeble hands

Still clinging to life

Thinly veiled lies

Bloom like cancer

Ready to choke off

Any last words

A cathartic release

From all resentment

When a dying romance

Was amended by fate

A well and sparely written eulogy for a doomed romance. The speaker has apparently had time to put the story in perspective by releasing resentment. More power to him. Well done.
