It was spring and the sun was shining after days and days of clouds and rain.
It was the perfect morning!
Emma grabbed her hat and notebook, rushing outside. She went behind the old farmhouse, followed the creek for a while until she reached the old abandoned shed that probably still belonged to her farm.
She sat down on a tree stump and put her hat next to her. Then she opened her notebook and just observed her surroundings for a little time. It truly was a wonderful morning. She listened to the steady pattering of the creek, the springsong of birds and the wind that seemed to greet her with a refreshing breeze.
One gush of wind allowed itself to carry her hat away but before she even realized it landed in front of the paws of a small creature. It had shining brown fur, a flat face and two large lower incisors. It gnawed on an old paint brush and looked curiously at the hat.
Emma tried to come closer but the animal snatched the hat and ran. She tried to catch it but it scurried between some bushes.
Peeking into them, she saw a small group of those creatures trying to push a small, broken flower pot into a hole- probably their burrow.
She wondered if those were the Chapaas or Chuus that the villagers talked about just the other day.
If so then she finally saw them after just a week of moving to her farm.
This day could only become better!
