Chapter One: Our Place

"Ouu what about this one!" a small girls voice called out. 

Two girl frolicked along the grass chasing what creatures they saw. the one pointed up toward a butterfly that seemed to tease her, flying just barely out of her reach. She gave a pout, her charcoal hair barely pushed past her shoulders and a side ponytail held her bangs out of her turquoise eyes. Her friend ran up and examined the situation, "Ayumi you can't be just aiming for the flying ones, there are some really cool ones on the ground too" She said with a smiled and held up her hand where a fuzzy greyish Caterpillar crawled. Ayumi giggled and poked it only to see it start to wiggle upward so the front half of it's body was up staring at the two.

the girl holding the Caterpillar was chocolate brown hair that was a bit longer, reaching to the center of her back with bangs cut straight across her forward just barely wagging in and out from the front of her sapphire eyes. 

"Your right, that one is cool, but those end up being butterflies don't they Koda?' She said. Koda nodded, "Yes, of course" she said setting it down onto a branch that dangled down from the tree they stood by. It just sat on a leaf. 

The sun just barely shined light on their situation, "It's getting late, same time tomorrow?" Koda said dusting her hands off.

Ayumi nodded, "Same time tomorrow!" she laughed as they both ran off in their own directions.

Nine Years Later

"You know what Koda?" Ayumi said twirling with the ends of her hair that now came to her lower back.

Koda turned her head from the book she was reading, "Yeah?" she responded watching a caterpillar inch over the page of her book.

"This place isn't as much fun as it was when we were little.

She was right. 7 and 8 was nine years ago, The two had matured not only physically, but mentally. The imagination wasn't what it had been back when they were young.

She moved the caterpillar and closed her book standing, "Well then I suppose it's time we go search for something more interesting, something...we haven't found yet" Koda said and watched Ayumi's eyes light up like a flame.

 "Oh this is grand! Just like old times" she said and marched over to Koda, "Come, we never go to the deep part of the woods" she said and tugged on her hand pulling herself and Koda down the path into the forest.

The searched high and low finding new animals they hadn't yet discovered, like a wild dog that was thankfully friendly, and a family of fox. "Help me up into this tree" Koda said. Ayumi nodded putting her hands together and let Koda use them for a stool pushing herself up into the tree. 

It was massive, the base of the tree had to have been 30 feet around and the bark was a cool grey, all of the branches seemed to be withered but what caught Koda's eye was this shiny object that seemed to have caught her attention. She helped Ayumi up since she wanted to investigate also. the closer they got, the more the limb began to crumble under their weight. 

Koda reached grabbing it. "Got it!" She said successfully seeing that it was a pocket watch that glinted the sunlight when suddenly the two began to fall.

And it seemed to never end.
