"Alice!!" cried her sister, Elizabeth, from their home.

Alice sat up straight, her silky blonde hair draping over her shoulders. "Yes, Lizzie?" she responds, but Lizzie graced her with no response. With a defeated sigh, Alice lays back in the grass and begins to watch the clouds. They were pretty, and the shapes looked different today. Something in Alice's bones told her that today was going to be a great day, she just new it.

From right next to her, a soft meow parted from her cat Dynah's mouth. Alice giggled. "Yes Dynah? What is it?" she asked, but Dynah said nothing, only rubbing her body against Alice's leg.

Again, Alice can hear Lizzie's shrill cries from their home. It must be supper. Or tea time. Those were the only times where Lizzie ever really cared where Alice was. Had mother or father seen that she wasn't there in time, and she'd have to wash the dishes. Dish washing was never fun, your dress always got soap stains along the hem. After that, it took many washes out on the porch during the humid summer days to get it to look presentable once more.

Once again Dynah let out a small mew as she pranced her way towards Alice. Alice simply sighed as she stood up. "C'mon Dynah, perhaps it's time to go in now."

Dynah prodded by her side, as if to agree.

Brushing off grass from her brand new silk blue dress, Alice began the short trek back to her home. Lizzie was screaming again. Alice sighed. Lizzie was never very patient.

The world around her was beautiful. Alice loved to take long walks and just examine the world around her. Everything was placed so very perfectly that Alice would often catch herself staring for longer than she intended. Ignoring the calls from Lizzie, Alice picked a flower and showed it to Dynah, who sniffed it curiously. "Honeysuckle," Alice said, popping the creamy white flower in her mouth. The honey seemed somewhat bitter, so she spit it out. Guess the patch wasn't very ripe yet. She'd just have to wait and come back a different day.

Alice stood still and looked over the hillside. From there you could see the Liddell home standing proudly above the village below them. The house had always looked a bit too proud, but then again no one seemed to really care. Alice smiled and looked down at Dynah, who was looking back up at her as if to say When are we leaving, Alice?

"Come now Dynah, before Lizzie blows a gasket," she said with a small laugh as she extended her hand out to her. Dynah began to walk over, but suddenly stopped. Her eyes darted around the area behind Alice, but when she turned around no one was there. "Dynah, what is it? What do you see?" she asked, but she knew that seemed rather foolish. Who believed their cat would answer anyways?

Dynah suddenly arched her back and leaned foward, exposing her fangs and giving a low growl in her throat. Alice turned around, but once again nothing was there. "Dynah..." she began. "You're beginning to put me on edge."

Now Dynah was backing up, hissing and meowing angrilly. Alice stood up and fully took in her surroundings. All she could see were flowers and patches of grass for miles and miles. There was nothing that even appeared to be remotely suspicious. "Dynah?" she asked again, her voice beginning to quiver.

Suddenly the bushes behind her began to rumble and shake, signaling the arrival of a newcomer. Dynah shouted louder, her claws poking out from under her paws. Alice backed up, fear running through her veins and stopping her stone cold. "D-D-Dynah..!!" Alice panicked, but she knew her cat would do virtually nothing to help her now. Who would save her from this terror? This attacker?? This--

Rabbit??

A rabbit popped out of the bushes, its nose twitching once it was stuck in the air. Alice felt herself breathe a sigh of relief. "My! Its only a little bunny rabbit," she said as she began to pet it behind the ears. "Hello Mr. Rabbit. Are you lost? Where's your family?" she asked in a gentle but concerned tone.

But even now, Dynah continued to cause a scene. Alice sighed. "Look Dynah, its just a rabbit. Calm down!" she demanded, but it appeared that Dynah wouldn't be listening anytime soon. Alice turned back to the rabbit, but it began to hop away.

"No no!" she cried, "Come back Mr. Rabbit! I can help you find your family!" she said as she began to follow it.

Deep into the woods.

Unaware of the hastily-changing scenery, Alice kept the rabbit in her sights. It hopped faster and faster, but not so fast that Alice couldn't keep up with it. It bolted between corners, past gnarled tree trunks and between bushes Alice could barely squeeze herself through. Eventually, she cornered the rabbit in a bright patch of sunlight, it's golden eyes gleaming in the rays. "There you are!" she said, scooping it up into her slender arms. "C'mon now, dont be so rash Mr. Rabbit. Lets go--" she said as she started to turn around, but suddenly she stopped. The ground beneath her was parting, and she could feel herself slipping. Clasping to the rabbit for dear life, Alice tried to escape, but it was too late.

She fell through the ground and into a bright light, the rabbit pressed against her chest.
